THE SOLO EXHIBITION OF DANIEL LISMORE AT THE HARPA HALL & CONFERENCE CENTRE

“Be yourself, Everyone else is already taken” is the solo exhibition, featuring the works by Daniel Lismore brilliant British visual artist (and fashion designer who worked as creative director for the British brand Sorapol, Tate Modern Museum and Graduate Fashion Week Ambassador), being part of the Reykjavik Arts Festival and will be held from 1^st to 30^th June 2018 in Iceland, in Harpa at the Harpa Hall and Conference Centre. The exhibition path successfully makes concrete the Wagnerian “Gesamkunstwerk” (Total work of art), includes about 30 sculptures, self-portraits, combined to theatrical dressing ensembles that decorate them(, joins haute couture, vintage items and precious cloths, giving rise to a marvelous dialogue between different channels of communication) and tracks a visionary anthropology which talks about the self, unconscious, identity, inviting and encouraging to think about the individual, the sole person, and at the same time humanity, caught in its dynamism and colored multiformity. It’s an universal lyricism, arising from who made his life an artwork, being really contemporary and eternal, as it explores with coherence, lightness and poetry the ontology of being. Here it shines a categorical imperative: “be yourself, as everyone else is already taken”, which is also the title of the book he recently released and edited by Skira/Rizzoli, smashing chance to enjoy art as elevation of thinking and question, rethink about yourself under the sign of freedom and hopefully a new and deep consciousness.

“Be yourself, Everyone else is already taken” è la personale di cui è protagonista l’ opera di Daniel Lismore, brillante artista inglese ( e fashion designer che ha collaborato nelle vesti di direttore creativo per il brand inglese Sorapol, ambasciatore del Museo Tate Modern e della Graduate Fashion Week), che è parte del Reykjavik Arts Festival e si terrà dall’ 1 al 30 giugno 2018 in Islanda, ad Harpa, presso la Hall and Conference Centre di Harpa. Il percorso espositivo concretizza felicemente la “Gesamkunstwerk” (opera d’ arte totale) wagneriana, include circa 30 sculture, autoritratti, abbinati a teatrali assemblaggi vestimentari che li adornano (unisce pezzi di alta moda, vintage e preziosi tessuti, dando vita a un meraviglioso dialogo tra diversi canali di comunicazione ) e traccia una visionaria antropologia che parla del sé, dell’ inconscio, di identità, invitando e incoraggiando a pensare all’ individuo, la singola persona e al tempo stesso dell’ umanità, colta nel suo dinamismo e nella sua colorata multiformità. Un lirismo universale che nasce da chi ha reso la sua vita un opera d’ arte ed è estremamente contemporaneo ed eterno, poiché esplora con coerenza, leggerezza e poesia l’ ontologia dell’ essere. Ivi risplende un imperativo categorico: “be yourself, as everyone else is already taken”, che è anche il titolo del suo libro, recentemente pubblicato ed edito da Skira/Rizzoli, formidabile occasione per apprezzare l’ arte come elevazione di pensiero, interrogarsi e ripensare a sè all’ insegna di libertà e sperabilmente una rinnovata e profonda consapevolezza.
