Fashion Revolution, the bi-annual collectable fanzine which seeks to uncover the stories behind the clothing we wear, has recently released the fourth issue, available in limited edition, it’s just only 3000 copies, focused on the fashion craft revolution. More of a book than a fanzine, this 104 page issue explains how craft intersects with the identity and culture of communities from all over the world. The fashion industry has spent more than thirty years obsessed with speed, volume and identical flawless production, whilst slow, ancient crafts with their individual variations are increasingly undervalued. Consequently, the diversity of our global craft heritage is disappearing. A team of experts, activists, academics and designers come together to examine and explore craft in all of its manifestations, giving rise to a smashing journey where aesthetics joins ethics, encouraging to question, think about, give solutions and act. The Unesco’s list of “the intangible cultural heritage of humanity”, connected on endangered global crafts like the Indonesian batik it is one of the issues that are here showcased as well as the history, current use and potential future of craft and its many forms. It’s a genuine source of culture under the sign of a performative thought, a must have for all the ones who think the value is itself a value.
LA RIVOLUZIONE DELLA MODA SU CARTA: LA FASHION CRAFT REVOLUTION
Fashion Revolution, la fanzine semestrale da collezione che cerca di svelare le storie che stanno dietro gli abiti che indossiamo, ha recentemente pubblicato la quarta edizione, disponibile in edizione limitata, soltanto 3000 copie, incentrata sulla rivoluzione della moda artigianale. Più di un libro che una fanzine, questa edizione di 104 pagine spiega in che misura l’ artigianato si intersechi con l’ identità e la cultura di comunità di tutto il mondo. L’ industria della moda ha passato oltre trenta anni con l’ ossessione della velocità, il volume e la identica perfezione della produzione, benché antichi manufatti artigianali a produzione lenta con le loro varianti individuali sono sempre più sottovalutati. Conseguentemente a ciò la diversità del nostro patrimonio globale sta scomparendo. Un gruppo di esperti attivisti, docenti universitari e designers si unisce per esaminare ed esplorare l’ artigianato in tutte le sue manifestazioni, dando vita a un formidabile viaggio in cui l’ estetica si unisce all’ etica, incoraggiando a interrogarsi, pensare, offrire risposte e agire. La lista dell’ Unesco “del patrimonio immateriale della cultura dell’ umanità”, connessa a manufatti artigianali a rischio come il batik indonesiano è una delle problematiche che sono ivi passate in rassegna come anche la storia, l’ uso attuale, il potenziale futuro dell’ artigianato e delle sue molteplici forme. Un’ autentica fonte di cultura all’ insegna di un pensiero performativo, un must da avere per tutti coloro che pensano che il valore sia di per sé un valore.
