MALCOM MCLAREN: THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Malcom McLaren, genius, eclectic individual, who, along her wife Vivienne Westwood – created the iconic  SEX Boutique in London – , codified the punk subculture during the Seventies, changing the face of music, fashion and style. He was well known as the creator of the British punk band Sex Pistols and later of band Bow Wow Wow. A catalyst of ideas, signs and culture as it has also evidenced by his work as singer. I like to remember the music track he made “Deep in Vogue” from the early Eighties, where he developed a trend arisen in the gay clubbing scene since the Sixties, the “Voguing” dance ( which, later, in the early Nineties Madonna brought into the pop culture with the music video “Vogue “). In 1980, he asked to the writer Barry Cain for helping to make his story, “Malcom McLaren: the autobiography”( Red Planet, 368 pages, $26.95), which will be released on 3^rd March 2020. A not to be missed book to know more about an age, its culture, an awesome mind and his brilliant work.

Malcom McLaren, genio, eclettica individualità, colui che, insieme alla moglie Vivienne Westwood – ha creato l’ iconica boutique SEX a Londra -, ha codificato la subcultura punk negli anni Settanta, cambiando il volto della musica, moda e dello stile. Noto come il creatore e manager della band punk inglese Sex Pistols e successivamente di Bow Wow Wow. Un catalizzatore di idee, segni e cultura come è dimostrato anche dal suo lavoro di cantante. Mi piace ricordare la sua traccia musicale “Deep in Vogue”, risalente ai primi anni Ottanta, in cui ha consolidato un trend nato nella scena dei club gay a partire dagli anni Sessanta, il ballo “Voguing” ( che più tardi, agli inizi degli anni Novanta Madonna ha sdoganato nella cultura pop con il video musicale “Vogue”). Nel 1980, ha chiesto allo scrittore Barry Cain di aiutarlo a realizzare la sua storia, “Malcom McLaren: the autobiography”( Red Planet, 368 pages, $26.95), che sarà pubblicato il 3 marzo 2020. Un libro imperdibile per conoscere di più su un’ epoca, la sua cultura, una superba mente e il suo brillante lavoro.
