MILAN SALONE DEL MOBILE: “MEDITATION SPACE” AN EXHIBITION TO THINK ABOUT ONE’S INNER WELFARE SEEN BY JASMIN SCHRÖEDER & EMANUELE MARZI

It opened in Milan during the Salone del Mobile at Le Cavallerizze in the Museo della Scienza e Tecnologia in the area of S. Ambrogio “MEDITATION SPACE”, exhibition which is held during the twenty-first edition of Design Triennale and runs through 12^th September 2016, featuring 11 architects, coming from Shanghai, presenting their ideas on spaces for meditating and elevating the spirit. Buddhism, Taoism, the concepts of energy or rather “Chi” ( known to all the ones makes tao yoga or the discipline of Tai Chi Chuan) are the source of inspiration for a new way of thinking and created, as it evidences the architect Jerry Lai who made “The voice of Brahma”, a structure made of 78 bells placed in the meditation space “Sutra Platform” taking inspiration from this tale: there were two masters questioning on a flag of the temple, which was moved by the wind. The first one thought the wind moved, instead the other thought it was the flag. They continued to discuss uselessly. The master Hui Neng said: “It’s not the wind or the flag moving, it’s just your mind moving”. Instead the architect Lien Tzu Cheng uses the traditional Buddhist philosophy– Diamond Sutra to create a silent meditation space, putting a big world in a little space and expressing «the world in your heart». The core of Zen is to think and purify the mind, this is meditation. The experience of exhibition gives the successful chance to start stabilizing the mind and discover one’s inner welfare: this is the culture of the Chinese Zen Buddhism.

Ha inaugurato a Milano in occasione del Salone del Mobile presso Le Cavallerizze al Museo della Scienza e Tecnologia nei dintorni di S. Ambrogio “MEDITATION SPACE”, mostra che si tiene nell’ ambito della ventunesima edizione della Triennale del Design e prosegue fino al 12 settembre 2016 di cui sono protagonisti 11 architetti, provenienti da Shanghai che presentano le loro idee di spazi dedicati alla meditazione ed elevazione spirituale. Buddhismo, Taoismo, i concetti di energia o meglio “Chi” (noti a tutti quelli che praticano tao yoga o la disciplina di Tai Chi Chuan) sono la fonte di ispirazione di un nuovo modo di pensare e creare, come dimostra l’ architetto Jerry Lai che ha realizzato “La voce del Brahma”, una struttura di 78 campane dello spazio di meditazione “Piattaforma Sutra” che si rifà a questo racconto: c’erano due maestri che discutevano di una bandiera del tempio mossa dal vento. Il primo affermava che era il vento a muoversi, l’ altro che invece era la bandiera. E continuavano a discutere inutilmente. Il maestro Hui Neng disse: “Non sono il vento o la bandiera che si muovono, è la vostra mente che si sta muovendo”. L’ architetto Lien Tzu Cheng usa invece la filosofia buddista cinese tradizionale – Sutra del Diamante per creare uno spazio silenzioso di meditazione, mettendo un grande mondo in un piccolo spazio ed esprimendo «il mondo nel tuo cuore». Il nucleo dello Zen è pensare e purificare la mente, questa è la meditazione. L’esperienza della mostra offre ai visitatori una felice occasione per cominciare a stabilizzare la mente e scoprire il proprio bene interiore: questa è la cultura del buddismo zen cinese.

“AI LIMITI”, THE POETRY OF ALDO ANDREANI AT THE DESIGNS ARCHIVE OF IUAV UNIVERSITY OF VENICE

It will be opened on 12^th February 2014 in Venice at the Designs Archive of Iuav University of Venice the exhibition “Ai limiti. Immagini d’ architettura dall’ archivio di Aldo Andreani”, curated by Mario Lupano in collaboration with Riccardo Dirindin. That is the first exhibition of 2014 by the Designs Archives, which is focused on the collection, conservations and study of architects’, designers’ and urbamologists’ archives. It also will be held a short talk featuring Serena Maffioletti, head of Designs Archives as well, Alberto Ferlenga, the director of P.H. D. of Iuav University and Mario Lupano. The exhibition showcases the documents by the visionary Mantua architect Aldo Andreani, original persona of Italian eclecticism from the early Nineties and is also the successful chance to thank Carla Andreani Menozzi, the daughter of architect who gave to the Designs Archive the whole documents of her father, including a thousand of sketches that feature about 90 projects of building( as Palazzo Fidia), monumental restorative works and urban planning. The architect was a bright and eclectic creative who worked also as sculptor and has been scholar of Adolfo Wildt at the Milan Academy of the Arts. The name of exhibition “Ai limiti” (meaning “in the edges”) focuses on the working and expressive path of Andreani, who made his work in the edge of professional system of architecture. The aristocratic operational autonomy made him an outsider. A brilliant marginalism was what he has chosen, which brought him to the edge of visionariness and aberration.

The ending of exhibition will coincide with an one day event exploring the work of Aldo Andreani which will be held on 6^th March 2014 in Venice at the Iuav Auditorium in the ex Cotonificio Veneziano featuring as panelists Amedeo Belluzzi, Riccardo Dirindin, Roberto Dulio, Fulvio Irace, Mario Lupano, Giulia Marocchi and Angelo Torricelli. Sarà inaugurata il 12 febbraio 2014 a Venezia presso l’ Archivio Progetti dell’ Università Iuav di Venezia la mostra “Ai limiti. Immagini d’ architettura dall’ archivio di Aldo Andreani”, curata da Mario Lupano in collaborazione con Riccardo Dirindin. Questa è la prima mostra programmata per il 2014 dell’ Archivio Progetti che è rivolto alla raccolta, conservazione e studio degli archivi di architetti, designers e urbanisti. Si terrà anche un breve talk con Serena Maffioletti, Responsabile scientifico dell’ Archivio Progetti, Alberto Ferlenga, il direttore del Dottorato dell’ Università Iuav e Mario Lupano. La mostra espome i documenti del visionario architetto mantovano Aldo Andreani, personaggio originale dell’ eclettismo italiano dei primi del Novecento ed è anche la felice occasione per ringraziare Carla Andreani Menozzi, la figlia dell’ architetto, che ha donato all’ Archivio Progetti l’ intera documentazione del padre, comprensiva di un migliaio di disegni di cui sono protagonisti circa 90 progetti di edificazione( quali Palazzo Fidia), opere di restauro monumentale e pianificazione urbanistica. L’ architetto era un brillante ed eclettico creativo che ha operato anche nelle vesti di scultore ed è stato allievo di Adolfo Wildt presso l’ Accademia di Belle Arti di Milano. Il nome della mostra, “Ai limiti”, si concentra sull’ iter lavorativo ed espressivo di Andreani, che ha svolto il suo lavoro ai limiti del sistema professionale dell’ architettura. L’ aristocratica separatezza lo ha reso un outsider. Un brillante marginalismo da lui scelto che lo ha portato ai limiti della visionarietà ed aberrazione.

La chiusura della mostra coinciderà con un evento di un giorno che esplora l’ opera di Aldo Andreani che si terrà il 6 marzo 2014 a Venezia presso l’ Auditorium della Iuav Auditorium all’ ex Cotonificio Veneziano di cui saranno protagonisti nelle vesti di relatori Amedeo Belluzzi, Riccardo Dirindin, Roberto Dulio, Fulvio Irace, Mario Lupano, Giulia Marocchi ed Angelo Torricelli. Un evento imperdibile per conoscere e apprezzare un visionario e la sua opera.

THE GROTESQUE SUGGESTIONS OF ATELIER VAN LIESHOUT AT THE PARIS CARPENTERS WORKSHOP GALLERY

It has recently opened in Paris at the Carpenters Workshop Gallery, placed in the picturesque area of Marais, the exhibition “Atelier Van Lieshout Forniture III”, which runs through 27^th April 2013 and is an expanded show of recent and early collaborations made by the Atelier Van Lieshout – founded in 1995 by Joep van Lieshout, working in the realm of art, architecture, furniture and design – with the gallery, featuring the grotesque, sensual suggestions that pay homage to the arts and crafts movement and explore a theme, the constantly questioning, driven by a globalised society that has lost its bearing.

È stata recentemente inaugurata a Parigi presso la Carpenters Workshop Gallery, ubicata nel pittoresco quartiere di Marais, la mostra “Atelier Van Lieshout Forniture III”, che prosegue fino al 27aprile 2013 ed é una esposizione ampliata delle recenti e precedenti collaborazioni realizzate dall’ Atelier Van Lieshout – fondato nel 1995 da Joep van Lieshout, che opera nell’ ambito di arte, architettura, componenti di arredo e design – con la galleria di cui sono protagoniste grottesche, sensuali suggestioni che rendono omaggio al movimento delle arti artigiane ed esplorano un tema, il costante interrogarsi, spinto da una società globale che ha perso il proprio orientamento.
