It will be held on 18th October 2013 in Venice at the Palazzo Badoer, aula Tafuri, at 5:30 pm the talk “The mechanical smile. Modernism and the first fashion shows in France and America (1900/1929)” featuring author and professor of fashion history and theory of the London Central Saint Martin’s Caroline Evans, who will talk about fashion, modernism and the rise of fashion show. The talk which will be introduced by the professors Mario Lupano and Alessandra Vaccari and will be followed by a cocktail to celebrate the time spent by Caroline Evans as visiting professor at the Fashion Design Faculty of Iuav University of Venice. A not to be missed happening under the sign of fashion culture.

Il talk sarà presentato dai professori Mario Lupano e Alessandra Vaccari e sarà seguito da un cocktail per festeggiare il periodo trascorso da Caroline Evans nelle vesti di visiting professor alla Facoltà di Fashion Design della Università di Venezia Iuav. Un evento imperdibile all’ insegna della cultura della moda.
The Newcomers 2013 is a laudable initiative at Modesign/Fashion at Iuav 2013 showcasing the works of the students of Iuav University Faculty of Fashion Design in many Treviso boutiques as well as in the Continental Hotel ( the set of movie “The consequences of love” by Paolo Sorrentino featuring Tony Servillo), place displaying the work by Gianluca Ferracin, inspired by the Asburgic era.

The emerging creativity and fashion culture, a value and a continuous dialogue, was the theme of two talks moderated by Cristiano Seganfreddo and Giusi Ferrè that took place at the Treviso Loggia dei Cavalieri and considered the purpose of a fashion school, the Treviso Faculty of Fashion Design (created in 2005 by Maria Luisa Frisa), for working on the Italian fashion identity in a region, the Veneto, hosting 9600 fashion companies and in a city, Treviso, including over 2000 fashion companies.

A main focus at the Iuav University is to join the training and working with promotion and the active process of observing the fashion project while questioning contemporary lifestyle. An important step in the further development of this laudable work has been the words by the new Treviso major, Giovanni Manildo, who has been one of the experts included in the second talk and considered the chance of bringing again the Biennale of Applied Arts in Treviso. Maybe as Giusi Ferrè asserted during the end of the second talk, that could be the starting point of something which could be (hopefully) developed in the forthcoming times: words to think about and do more and better.

I Newcomers 2013 è una lodevole iniziativa alla Modesign/Fashion at Iuav 2013 che espone i lavori degli studenti della Facoltà di Fashion Design dell’ Università Iuav in molte boutiques di Treviso come anche nell’ Hotel Continental ( il set del film “Le consequenze dell’ amore” di PaoloSorrentino con Tony Servillo), luogo che espone il lavoro di Gianluca Ferracin che si ispira all’ era asburgica.

La creatività emergente e la cultura della moda, un valore e un continuo dialogo, è stato il tema di due talks moderati da Cristiano Seganfreddo e Giusi Ferrè che ha avuto luogo alla Loggia dei Cavalieri di Treviso ed ha considerato la finalità di una scuola di moda, la Facoltà di Fashion Design di Treviso (creata nel 2005 da Maria Luisa Frisa), per lavorare sull’ identità della moda italiana in una regione, il Veneto che ospita 9600 aziende di moda e in una città, Treviso che include più di 2000 aziende di moda.

Una rilevante obiettivo dell’ Università Iuav è unire la formazione e il lavoro e operare nella promozione e il procedimento attivo nell’ osservare il progetto moda mentre si discute del lifestyle contemporaneo. Un importante passo nell’ ulteriore consolidamento di questa lodevole opera sono state le parole del nuovo sindaco di Treviso, Giovanni Manildo, che è stato uno degli esperti inclusi nel secondo talk ed ha preso in considerazione la possibilità di riportare la Biennale delle Arti Applicate a Treviso. Forse come ha affermato Giusi Ferrè alla fine del secondo, ciò potrebbe essere l’ inizio di qualcosa che (sperabilmente) potrebbe essere sviluppato in futuro: parole per pensare e fare di più e meglio.

The IUAV University of Venice in collaboration with Bottega Veneta and Rumor Centro Produttività Veneto Foundation launches the “Bag Design and Product Development Post-graduated Course” that will be held from January to April 2012 of whose contents will be presented on 3rd November 2011 – 3 pm – in Treviso at the Iuav Fashion Design Faculty in via Achille Papa 1. The course – at its first edition, is the natural development of “Bag Design and Product development” workshop, created by the University teaming with Bottega Veneta since 2011 – is open to 12 applicants coming from all over the world. Three other positions are reserved to applicants coming from to the Japan countries hit by the tsnunami, initiative being part of a special charity project for supporting the young Japanese designers. The educational training, curated by the Professor Mario Lupano, will feature theory and practice – under the sign of an international and pragmatic mood that made celebrated the Institution – in the laboratories of design and prototypes making where every student will design a capsule collection of bags along with the final making of an item. The selection for attending the Course is open to graduated people or professionals, the Course is for free as Bottega Veneta will cover the enrolling and the accommodation fees, placed in Vicenza, city where will be held the Course of whose deadline to send the application from is on 2nd December 2011. The Japanese applicants will be pre-selected by a jury including the fashion journalist Yoskiko Ikoma, chief curator Aomori Museum of Art Takayoshu Iida and the renowned architect Kengo Kuma as well as the Italian jury featuring also Elda Danese, Mario Lupano and Maria Luisa Frisa. A laudable initiative by a public Institution acting on a international level and frequently attracting many foreign students and Professors, successfully making concrete the right – constitutionally granted in Italy – of elevating oneself by the study I celebrate, reminding the words of celebrated politic, intellectual and historian Antonio Gramsci: ” let’s study as we will need all of your wits”.
IL CORSO DI PERFEZIONAMENTO IN BAG DESIGN AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT DELLA FACOLTÀ DI DESIGN DELLA MODA DELL’UNIVERSITÀ IUAV DI VENEZIA

L’ Università IUV di Venezia in collaborazione con Bottega Veneta e la Fondazione Rumor Centro Produttività Veneto lancia il Corso di perfezionamento in Corso di perfezionamento in “Bag Design and Product Development” che si terrà da gennaio ad aprile 2012 i cui contenuti saranno presentati il 3 novembre 2011 – alle ore 15:00 – a Treviso presso la Facoltà di Design della Moda in via Achille Papa 1. Il corso – alla sua prima edizione, è la naturale consolidazione del workshop in “Bag Design e Product development”, creato dall’ Università in collaborazione con Bottega Veneta a partire dal 2011 – è aperto a 12 candidati provenienti da tutto il mondo. Tre ulteriori sono riservati a candidati provenienti dalle regioni del Giappone colpite dallo tsnunami, un’iniziativa che è parte di uno speciale progetto di beneficenza per supportare i giovani designer giapponesi. La didattica, curata dal Professore Mario Lupano unirà teoria e pratica – all’insegna del mood internazionale e pragmatico che ha reso celebre l’ Istituzione – nei lavoratori di progettazione e realizzazione dei prototipi in cui ogni studente progetterà una capsule collection di borse unitamente alla realizzazione finale di un pezzo. La selezione per frequentare il Corso è aperta a laureati e professionisti, il Corso è a titolo gratuito in quanto Bottega Veneta si assumerà i costi per l’ iscrizione e l’allogio, ubicato a Vicenza, città in cui si terrà il Corso il cui termine di scadenza per consegnare la domanda d’iscrizione è il 2 dicembre 2011. I candidati giapponesi saranno preselezionati da una giuria che include il giornalista di moda Yoskiko Ikoma, il chief curator del Aomori Museum of Art Takayoshu Iida ed il noto architetto Kengo Kuma come anche la giuria italiana che comprende anche Elda Danese, Mario Lupano e Maria Luisa Frisa. Una lodevole iniziativa di una Istituzione pubblica che agisce a livello internazionale e sovente attrae plurimi studenti e Docenti stranieri, concretizzando felicemente il diritto – costituzionalmente garantito in Italia – di elevarsi mediante lo studio che celebro, ricordando le parole del celebre politico, intellettuale e storico Antonio Gramsci: “studiate perché avremo bisogno di tutta la vostra intelligenza”.
