“CAMP: NOTES ON FASHION” AT THE MET GALA

Moschino Spring/Summer 1991

It will be held tomorrow the MET Gala in New York , raising-fund event  for the Metropolitan Museum created yesterday, in 1948 by the fashion journalist Eleonor Lambert, conceived as a gala dinner before the opening of exhibition, since 1972 it has managed by the Vogue editor in chief Diana Vreeland and the evening became a renowned happening for divas and celebrities – organized by the Vogue America editor in chief Anna Wintour having as theme of dress-code requested the name of exhibition, curated by Andrew Bolton, sponsored by Gucci, “Camp: notes on fashion” which will be held at the Met Museum from 9th May to 8th September 2019. This title has drawn inspiration by the essay by Susan Sontag which pays homage to camp, a relevant sign impressed in the culture: “camp is all that is extravagant, theatrical, exaggerated, which gives the chance to read again the codes from the past and stand out from the mass. It’s a bit posh, artificial. It’s mostly incongruous”. It’s an artifice, where excess combines to eccentricity, assertiveness and irony, a relative of trash – its son, if it is consider trash as a matrix, which is instead a spontaneous phenomenon -, turned into a standard of elegance, institutionalized yesterday and today by brands as Moschino, Jeremy Scott and Gucci by Alessandro Michele.

“CAMP: NOTES ON FASHION” AL MET GALA

A contemporary reflection on the punk and on the Met exhibition themes which represents the debut of Chris Sutton Studio. There are just sixteen days for the end of fundraising, thus let’s join and support, giving our modest contribution to make concrete this smashing artistic project and celebrate an unforgettable movement (where the nihilism was vibrant and dynamic critique instead if the static one featuring frequently in the contemporary times) and its fashion suggestions.
