ONE DAY AT FLORACULT UNDER THE SIGN OF NATURE AND ITS CULTURE

It was just only one day I spent in the Rome countryside in La Storta at I Casali del Pino where it was held the tenth edition of Floracult, event created by the bright fashion designer and social activist Ilaria Venturini Fendi, focused on the nature and its culture that featured books launches, talks and permanent installations to pay homage and celebrate the natural world and their little hosts. A smashing chance to come back, enjoy a beloved place, discover and share new ideas and emotions.

IT HAPPENS AT FLORACULT: NATURE, CULTURE & SUSTAINABILITY

Floracult, photo by N

Nature as a lifestyle under the sign of sustainability, that is what it featured in the ninth edition of Floracult, event ideated by the strong social activist, pioneering fashion designer and farming businesswoman Ilaria Venturini Fendi and curated by Antonella Fornai, which was recently held in the Rome countryside, in La Storta at I Casali del Pino. It’s culture, this, made concrete through different events as workshops, book-launches, exhibitions and talks. The sounds, scents and flavors belonging to the natural world along with its little hosts were the main features, a tale enriched by an awesome frame, the enchanting, relaxing and warmth atmosphere which makes this place a special place where to go and come back. That is what I do since seven years and year after year I continue discovering something new concerning the nature, sustainability. I often use to saying I am grateful to have the chance of increasing my modest knowledge concerning this field to which I am very sensitive and deeply connected.

This event becomes more special as it often gives to me the chance to see many things and also sharing all that with some beloved friends. I like reminding two special moments, a talk featuring the architects Antonio Girardi and Cristiana Favretto, focused on sustainable solutions as the Jellyfish hydroponic installation in its further developments which has been presented during the Milan Expo. They also talked about the PNAC, the projecting team joining architecture, botany and interior design coordinated Stefano Mancuso as well as about the way plants can be used as sensors, model for innovation and means to purity the air. That it has witnessed by “Breath”, an installation evidencing to which extent the plants can be filters to remove the pollution there is in the atmosphere. This and other kinds of solutions that are respectful of the world where we live were adopted by some Tuscany areas as Prato, city with which the PNAC is collaborating. Another special interlude has been the conference held by the iconic fashion guru Li Edelkoort and hosted by the bright fashion journalist Antonio Mancinelli. She created Bloom, a magazine launched in 1998 I was pleased to see and read, to increase the contemporary lifestyles inspired by the love for the plants, flowers and garden. It is a precious contribute she gave in order to increase a sustainable way of thinking inside out the realm of fashion, or rather to define fashion in an anti-fashion way, considering the current vision of mainstream connected to this realm. It’s a different way to think, create and make, that until now it has considered just merely pioneering, but it is born to be the only way possible in the forthcoming future. The consciousnesses arising from that, doubts and ideas were many, a precious gift resulting from this moment of culture sharing: to question and have doubts, ideas on the move, the driving forces of a change, something which is really necessary.

SUCCEDE A FLORACULT: NATURA, CULTURA & SOSTENIBILITÀ

THE BALANCE OF SHAPES BY ADRIANA ALBERTINI & THE CULTURE OF TASTE BY ANNA FENDI

Balance and fantasy, a game of shapes made by using the old technique of ceramic. Clay and fireclays give rise to vision of matter that remind cities and labyrinths, successfully joining the rigor and immediacy of artistic gesture and the functionality of design. Those are the features in the creations by the Brescia designer Adriana Albertini that have showcased in a suggestive, wide room during the sixth edition of Floracult.

The same room hosted the creations Anna Fendi that are under the sign of Epicureanism and refinement: a selection of chine and furniture concerning the table setting that embody the value of a made in Italy product and a wise craftsmanship, an alchemy talking about harmony and culture of taste. Shapes, flavors and colors depict the elegance, a lifestyle, the one which is impressed in the life and works of the bright creative.

EPICUREANISM AS LIFESTYLE: AVF, THE SELECTION OF WINES BY ANNA VENTURINI FENDI

AVF, a selection of wines curated by Anna Venturini Fendi
Alamaro(Kerner wine) featuring in AVF, a selection of wines curated by Anna Venturini Fendi, photo by Raffaella Tatti

Epicureanism as lifestyle talking about refinement, craftsmanship, taste and made in Italy, an alchemy that features in the life and creativity of Anna Venturini Fendi, her continuous work of research which is successfully made concrete in one of the projects she recently launched: AVF, a selection of wines. This project has developed by her along with Pino Tedesco in collaboration with the wine taster Michelangelo di Toma and includes a series of renowned autochthon vine varieties from Italy. Red wines, white wines, a rosé wine, prosecco, sparkling wine and spirits complete her smashing selection. Twill (Amarone della Valpolicella Superior), Bolero (Barolo), Negligè (Brunello di Montalcino), Velvet (Classic Chianti), Voile(Gavi), Spina di Pesce (the best Soave wine I ever drank), Lamé (Prosecco), Decolleté (Sparkling wine) are some of the catchy wines’ names that talk about textures, elegance and reveals an enchanting experience. I recently has pleased of tasting them in Rome at the wine-bar of Villa Laetitia – another project connected to the hotellerie by Anna I will tell you about soon – and discover they feature a high quality and a reasonable price. Being devoted to the flavors from South Tyrol and to a wine, the Kerner, it has been a double delight to enjoy Alamaro, the Kerner wine being part of AVF selection and discover its highly aromatic and at the same time natural flavor which is not intensified by the use of barrique as it often is impressed on those kind of wines. Another amazing interlude – for one like me who usually does not like the rosé wine – has been Fard, rosé wine made of wine varieties from Troy, area of Asia. My wine tasting ended with Acquae vitae, the spirito d’ uva, a spirit embodying a fruity taste, being lightly alcoholic and ideal to be used as a base to create cocktails or to be served at the end of meal with pastries. A selection to discover and enjoy which will be also presented along with the other creations by Anna Venturini Fendi during Bucolica 2014, an exhibition event which will be held from 23rd to 25th May in Vaprio D’ Adda, in the area of Bergamo, a not be missed happening to discover and appreciate Epicurean suggestions and the culture of taste by Anna Venturini Fendi.

Floracult, the event celebrating the nature and its culture, created by Ilaria Venturini Fendi and curated by Antonella Fornai, which was held in the Rome countryside, in La Storta, at I Casali del Pino, has been the successful chance to discover and enjoy flowers, plants, the little, big hosts of natural world, meet awesome companions of Epicurean interludes and share new flavors. Concerning the Epicurean side of my stay at Floracult, at I Casali del Pino – which is a smashing farming company, producing cheeses, cold cuts, pastries and other delights and is the place where is also the factory of Carmina Campus, brand of accessories, jewelry and furniture promoting the culture of re-use and sustainability, created by Ilaria Venturini Fendi – I was pleased of discover and enjoy the wines and spirits selected by Anna Venturini Fendi about I will talk about much more soon. It has been a smashing, magic experience, an unforgettable edition of an event, successfully making concrete that healthy ethic I celebrate.
