“SOUTH IS NOTHING” BY FABIO MOLLO AWARDED AT THE ROME FILM FESTIVAL: VIVA!

Viva! I am very glad the first feature film by Fabio Mollo “South is nothing” ( which will be at the cinemas on 5^th December 2013) won the Gold Chamber Taodue award of Rome International Film Festival as best emerging independent production. The award has given to the two producers, for B24 Film and Madakai, Jean Denis Le Dinahet and Sebastien Msika. The film touched and it was chilling me (and as I told to Fabio before the starting of Festival: “if the film touched me, it touches to all of the people who see it”. I was sure he won, as he is a brilliant artist. I am very happy my idea became reality), as it depicts something I know very well, the opposed emotions (love, bitterness, social denounce and hope) arising from the same city where I was born, Reggio Calabria – the place where the movie has set – and the mentality of many generations being under the sign of nothingness, feeling the actor Vinicio Marchioni (who interpreted the silent father of Grazia, the desperate teenager who wants knowing what happened to her brother) discovered and understood as a whole during the movie making. This award recognizes the talent of people like Fabio and the production that worked with him to give shape to an idea, create something which brings energy, culture and makes think about. I like to think this is a prize for all, a message for encouraging all of the creatives inside out the realm of film industry to go ahead, be faithful to their own ideas and continue doing, as the results – like it happened in this circumstance – arrive. Naturally I also wish to Fabio a successful following of his creative path, being sure that is just the fist step giving rise to a series of successes he deserves.

“IL SUD È NIENTE” DI FABIO MOLLO PREMIATO AL FESTIVAL DEL CINEMA DI ROMA: EVVIVA!

Evviva! Sono molto felice che il primo lungometraggio di Fabio Mollo “Il sud è niente” (che sarà nei cinema il 5 dicembre 2013) abbia vinto il premio Camera D’ Oro Taodue del Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Roma come migliore produzione emergente. Il premio è stato consegnato ai due produttori, per B24 Film e Madakai, Jean Denis Le Dinahet e Sebastien Msika. La pellicola mi ha commosso e mi ha fatto venire i brividi (e come dicevo a Fabio prima dell’ inizio del Festival: “se il film ha emozionato me, emozionerà tutti quelli che lo vedranno”. Ero sicura che avrebbe vinto, essendo un brillante regista. Sono molto lieta che la mia idea sia divenuta realtà), poiché dipinge qualcosa che conosco molto bene, i sentimenti contrastanti (amore, amarezza, denuncia sociale e speranza) che nascono dalla città in cui sono nata, Reggio Calabria – luogo in cui è ambientato il film – e la mentalità di molte generazioni all’ insegna del niente, sentimento che l’ attore Vinicio Marchioni (interprete del silenzioso padre di Grazia, la disperata teenager che vuole sapere cosa è accaduto al fratello) ha scoperto e compreso nella sua interezza durante la realizzazione del film. Questo premio riconosce il talento di individui come Fabio e la produzione che ha lavorato con lui per dar forma a un’ idea, per creare qualcosa che porti energia, cultura e faccia pensare. Mi piace pensare che questo sia un premio per tutti, un messaggio che incoraggi tutti i creativi dentro e fuori dall’ ambito dell’ industria cinematografica ad andare avanti, esser fedeli alle proprie idee e continuare a fare, poiché i risultati – come è accaduto in questa circostanza – arrivano. Naturalmente auguro a Fabio una felice prosecuzione del suo iter creativo e sono certa che questo sia soltanto il primo passo che darà vita alla serie di successi che merita.
